Immediate volunteer opportunities are available for the following positions: Outreach ActivitiesWork with our Outreach Committee to: · Design, edit and write the Trust’s periodic newsletter, · Develop and edit new information and update content for the Trust website. · Organize outreach meetings and design communications for community leaders and residents, · Design targeted communications to landowners about preserving land,
We’re looking for people who like to write and have communication planning and design skills and/or marketing and public relations experience.
Stewardship of Protected LandsWork with our Stewardship Committee to: · Assist in the monitoring and inspection of properties under conservation easement including hiking through protected (sometimes rough terrain) properties, use GPS equipment to photograph sites, and take notes, · Organize notes and other recorded data and scan and compile photographs to create inspection reports, · Communicate with property owners. We’re looking for personable, energetic people with an interest in orienteering and photography and a willingness to follow through in organizing recorded data, scanning photographs and compiling reports. Land Preservation EffortsWork with the Land Preservation Committee to: · Track land preservation opportunities on the Annapolis Neck, · Be familiar with development, zoning and land protection regulations and process as well as conservation easement provisions and tax advantage possibilities, · Consult with communities on process and mechanisms to protect undeveloped open space, · Work with landowners to protect their land and develop conservation easement terms, · Work with appraisers, attorneys and county officials on preservation projects,
We’re looking for people with good communication and negotiation skills who have an interest in learning land preservation process, laws and regulations. Experience with financial modeling useful. Weekday and daytime availability would be an advantage.
Fundraising and Development ActivitiesWork with the Development Committee to: · Organize logistics and publicity for fundraising events and other related activities, such as obtaining items for silent auction, etc,. · Assist with other special fundraising activities and efforts, · Assist with grant-writing efforts.
